I’ve been using the firefox extension Video Downloader for some time now. It stopped working on youtube for a while and so I went looking for a simpler alternative - and found one. Paste the url of any video you’re viewing into the search option on keepvid, and it throws up the direct link to the video file. Or better yet, drag this link to your bookmarks toolbar and hit it whenever you need to download a video. It’s in beta (of course) and currently works with:

Here’s a decent (and free) flv player to watch the videos after you download them. To convert .flv files to other video formats download Super. (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer)
After reading this, I wonder if more bloggers are going to shift to Wordpress.com for free blog hosting.
Comparision between the two services here on Jaya Jha’s blog. Personally I prefer Wordpress, but I wonder how it will hold out against the new blogger service, presently in beta.
Time to check all past designs to see if any hacks are breaking up. Damn, I just finished doing that with IE7!
Just announced. Although Google search has always been available for websites, this time it’s with a difference. Now more like the search provided by atomz, the results can be tailored more to your liking based on your theme/content. You can even add multiple websites to be searched, which opens up a whole load of possibilities.
Say for example I start a search engine on error messages in wordpress.
So I add a bunch of websites to be searched, and others using Google Co-op can add other helpful sources they come across. In time, this search becomes the definitive search engine for wordpress troubleshooting.
Setting up is simple enough. Get started here with Google Co-op.
Ok, since Anwin’s been repeatedly tagging (read bugging) me, I’m going to comply. These are the most popular keyword searches that lead here:
Ok, since I’m now supposed to tag someone, I choose this guy.
Next time you book a domain name… look at it from every angle
Vaastu?
The shit people come up with.
“Earth is the layout, fire is the color, air is the HTML, space is name of the Website, and water is the font and graphics,” says Narang, adding that each must be chosen carefully and strike a balance with the other.
Narang, a Vaastu expert who has spent four years analyzing around 500 sites, says a Website that is not designed according to Vaastu rules will have few hits and will negatively affect the business.
Yeah. Right. Need to make sure my navigation bars face east and my flash banners are in the NE corner from now on.

I remember Google acquiring Measure Map sometime ago, and forgot about it when Google Analytics became freely available. However this still looks promising, and hope they bring it out soon. Looks like a souped up version of Analytics made just for bloggers.
Update: I haven’t tried Performancing Metrics yet, but online sources say that it is quite good. If anyone gives it a go, please let me know!
